KAJAANI RESEARCH CONSORTIUM OF EXPERIENCE, LEARNING AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENTGoal of the Consortium The Consortium carries out multidisciplinary studies on learning, change and cultural developmental processes in different environments and stages of life. Theoretical frame The research concentrates on theoretical and empirical aspects of human development and lifelong learning, mastering and evaluation of skills. These topics are approached from cultural-historical and dynamic systems point of view. Developmental trajectories are described, analyzed and explained on the level of organizations, activity systems and individual experience. Theoretical focus emphasizes qualitative changes and transitions in developmental processes. Learning and development are studied as reorganization and creativity of different systems at developmental transitions. The structure of the Consortium The consortium is composed of a network of research units and laboratories sharing a joint theoretical approach, methodological frame and administration. Scientific work is divided between units each having a different object of study. But the units actively cooperate and collect also joint research data. The consortium has a joint research strategy, a multidisciplinary doctoral school and a program for postdoctoral studies.
